
Miami R&P Centerfire Benchrest
Generally scheduled on the 2nd Sunday, April – Oct. Sign-in 8:00 - 8:30am. Match starts at 9:00 AM. Match fee is $12 for members/ $15 for non members, plus $3 for target runner. Cash payback to winners.
Match consists of 25 record shots total, with unlimited sighters. 10 minutes allowed for each 5 shot relay. Max possible score 250-25X.
What to bring:
At least 50 rds. ammo.
Rifle zeroed.
Rest/ bags.
Eye and hearing protection.
Match usually runs until early afternoon, so you might want to pack a lunch.
We usually alternate between 100 and 200 yd. matches monthly.
There are two classes: Custom and Sporter.
Custom Class Equipment Rules:
1) Case capacity no greater than .308 Win.
2) No muzzle brakes.
3) Rifles must be equipped with telescopic sights. No limit on magnification.
4) Otherwise unlimited.
Sporter Class Equipment Rules:
1) Actions: Must have mass produced factory action, single shot or repeater.
Exceptions: Savage target actions, Remington 40X and Cooper are allowed. All AR-15 type actions are allowed (with brass catcher).
2) Aftermarket modifications: Rebarrelling, restocking, custom triggers, bedding and truing are allowed. Sleeved actions are not allowed.
3) Stocks must have no more than 2.5” forearm width (including attached plates).
4) Chambering:
A) Case capacity no greater than .308 Win.
B) Action used must have been available as a factory rifle with the chambering.
C) Factory loaded ammunition should be commercially available.
D) BR and PPC based cartridges are not permitted in the class.
5) Handloads are allowed.
6) No muzzle brakes.
7) Rests: Pedestals with adjustment mechanisms, sandbags, and attached bipods are allowed. Rifle may not be clamped or fixed in a “machine” type rest.
8) Rifle weight unrestricted.
9) Rifles must be equipped with telescopic sights. No limit on magnification.
10) Match director has final word on legality of equipment, in order to maintain the intent of the Sporter class.
General Benchrest Match Rules/ Procedures:
All club rules in effect during matches.
BOLTS OUT OF RIFLES AT ALL TIMES - On range officer’s command you may insert bolts and commence fire. Upon finishing your firing sequence, remove bolt from rifle immediately and stay seated until the line is finished and cease fire is called.
When persons are downrange – No gun handling, step away from benches.
Single round load only during matches. No loading of magazines.
