Saturday Steel

The Miami Rifle & Pistol Club conducts an all steel pistol match on the second Saturday of each month. This is an event for the novice to the expert. There are Six classes consisting of Stock Auto, Unlimited Auto, Rimfire , Rimfire Revolver, Revolver and Single action revolvers. In the Single Action class, you must have 2 Single action guns to compete. Occasionally there are side matches, weather and time permitting, and these are announced in advance via e-mail. A typical match requires approximately 80 rounds but you are encouraged to bring extra. There are three stages of static targets and each stage is shot three times. Stages two and three do require a timed reload. A minimum of two magazines or speed-loaders is required. Six magazines are optimum. Each stage is a timed event. A miss is a three-second penalty, and depending upon the stage design, a miss may be made-up. A procedural is a ten-second penalty.

Safety is a hallmark of the Miami Rifle & Pistol Club. Eye protection and hearing protection are required. Miami Rifle & Pistol Club is a “cold range” so no personal carry privileges are permitted. There is no handling of firearms at any time until directed by the Match Director or Range Officer. Only competitors engaged in a course of fire under the direct supervision of a Range Officer may have a loaded firearm. Spectators are welcome and must abide by the same safety rules including eye protection and hearing protection.

The match starts at 12:00 PM on the Pistol Range. Sign-ups begin at 11AM and the entry fee is $5.00 per class. Payouts are awarded based upon Lewis class. Setup and teardown of stages goes well but everyone’s assistance is needed to have the match run smoothly. This is an open match and visitors are required to abide by all Miami Rifle & Pistol Club rules.  All visitors must sign and turn in a Club Waiver.  Please take note of the new match start time, 12:00 PM.
